On September 12, 2016, over 175 Oakville residents came together and participated in my Town Hall on Electoral Reform. We had a productive and engaging discussion on the challenges and opportunities that come with electoral reform, assisted by Mark Holland, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Democratic Institutions, and moderated by Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, President and CEO of Sheridan College. I would like to thank everyone who came to Sheridan College on Monday evening and shared your ideas for the future of Canadian democracy. All of the concerns and recommendations submitted have been submitted to the Special Committee on Electoral Reform, who will take Oakville’s perspective into consideration when drafting their final report on electoral reform.
Participants arrived at this Town Hall with open minds and a common goal –improving the health and effectiveness of Canadian democracy. The notes that were made during the Town Hall reflect the respectful and knowledgeable nature of the discussion. Please continue to voice your perspectives to me on this or any issue at [email protected], or on my website here.
