It’s been a busy summer in Oakville. Between the many festivals, events, meetings and consultations,I realize it will soon be a year since you elected me as your federal representative. This past year has been incredibly informative and rewarding. I am immensely proud of what we have been able to accomplish not only across Canada, but right here in Oakville. After wrapping up this productive and engaging summer, I am returning to Ottawa to continue to work hard for every resident of our community, making sure that Oakville’s concerns and questions are heard in Ottawa.
Over the past year our Government has already delivered on 26 key promises, including improving the quality of life for seniors, boosting funding for student grants, and reducing taxes for the middle class. On top of the benefits that Oakville residents will realize from these promises, I’m very proud to note that Oakville has received almost $10 million in funding grants since October 2015. This funding ranges from supporting research at Sheridan College to investments in clean technology firms, along with support for youth employment strategies and social research. This fall, further investments, particularly in infrastructure, will be a recurring theme in our region.
As your representative in Ottawa, I always look forward to hearing your opinions and perspectives on issues that matter most to you. I spent most of the summer in the community engaging with residents across the riding and meeting with you to hear the issues and concerns of Oakville residents of all backgrounds. Although I am not able to meet with as many residents while the House of Commons is in session, I do need to continue hearing from you. This helps me do my best to represent you and be our community’s voice. Email me at [email protected], or take advantage of the Have Your Say interactive tool on my website to tell me your thoughts on upcoming legislation. Thank you to those who have already written to me, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on a wide variety of issues in the upcoming year. If you’re interested in staying updated on what I’m doing, both in Ottawa and in Oakville, like my Facebook page, follow me on Twitter, or subscribe to my email newsletter.
During this second session of the 42nd Parliament, expect openness, transparency, and evidence-based decisions to continue. While we have accomplished a significant amount already, there is still more work to be done.
