Canadians have rallied behind those affected by Fort McMurray, and it is in these moments of crisis that I am most proud to be Canadian.
As Member of Parliament for Oakville, I wanted to make sure that Oakville does our part in the relief efforts for the victims of the tragic wildfires. Watching the news, I was shocked to see just how devastating the damage inflicted on the community was. The stories of firefighters seeing family heirlooms and irreplaceable memories go up in smoke are sobering, and remind us just how precious our lives really are.
This Saturday, June 4th, I will be hosting a pancake breakfast in Coronation Park in support of our neighbours in Fort Mac with the The Lions Club graciously assisting us with the event. Please bring your friends and neighbours and enjoy a wonderful Lions Club breakfast with pancakes and sausages or samosas and help support a community in need. Email my office at [email protected] or call 905-338-2008 and let us know you’ll be joining us.
Many constituents have asked if you can drop off a donation to my office. If you’re unable to join us at the breakfast, we’d be pleased to add your donations to the total. Our office address is 301 Robinson Street.
I hope that you will join me this Saturday to aid those who, since returning to Fort McMurray and surrounding communities, are working hard to rebuild what they lost.
