Supporting Craft Beer in Oakville

Kevin Flynn, John Oliver & Bill Coleman

I was delighted to join Kevin Flynn, Minister of Labour and Oakville’s MPP today to announce a $151,000 investment into Oakville’s own Cameron’s Brewing, to improve their canning line for tallboy cans. Building on the celebrations of Ontario’s Craft Beer Week, this is not only an investment in local jobs, but an investment in our economy.

The development of local craft breweries is a true success story for Ontario. Craft beer is a rapidly growing segment of the beer market, employing more than 1,500 people in direct brewing jobs, and generating more than $69 million in sales last year at the LCBO. Canadians are increasingly looking to buy local, and in Oakville we are lucky to have great breweries, including Cameron’s Brewing, in our own backyard.

This funding is part of Growing Forward 2, a $1.6 million investment into 42 projects at 20 craft breweries across Ontario, supporting local businesses and growing our province’s craft beer industry. This key investment, a partnership between the Federal and Provincial governments, will help build on new market opportunities in the development of their business.

I encourage you to continue the celebrations of Craft Beer Week with a can of Cameron’s Cosmic Cream Ale.
